TRAIL CYCLE LEADER
The first step on the MBLA ladder for those wanting to lead groups in non-AALA licensable terrain. Ideal for teachers, youth leaders, mountain bike guides and outdoor centre staff.
MOUNTAIN BIKE LEADER
For experienced Trail Cycle Leaders who want to lead groups on more technically challenging terrain and remote wilderness rides.
ADDITIONAL MODULES
These modules are open to qualified Trail Cycle Leaders (TCL) and Mountain Bike Leaders (MBL).

MBLA awards are highly recommended and recognised across the whole of the UK and further afield. The MBLA is endorsed by the Adventure Activity Licensing Authority (AALA), Mountain Leader Training Scotland (MLTS), British Armed Forces and recognised by British Cycling (BC). Scottish Cycling is the National Governing Body for cycle-sport in Scotland and is an integral part of British Cycling.
The scheme offers awards at two levels, the Trail Cycle Leader (TCL) and the Mountain Bike Leader (MBL). Each covers mountain biking skills, repairs and cycle set-up, navigation and leadership.
Expedition, Night Riding and new Winter Conditions Modules are available to qualified TCL & MBL award holders.
Our MBLA tutors offer training and assessments for those who wish to become qualified in leading Mountain Biking.; we offer the following MBLA courses:-
Mountain Biking - Alpine Skiing - Hill & Mountain Walking - Orienteering & Navigation - Canoeing & Kayaking - Climbing & Abseiling - Team & Confidence Building - Expedition training, leading & supervision
